The animated puppet drama Dcera (Daughter), created by Daria Kashcheeva, student of the Department of Animated Film at Prague FAMU, and which was a co-production of FAMU and MAUR film, has been shortlisted for the Academy Awards in the Best Animated Short Film category  along with 9 other contenders. On 13th January the final five out of these ten will be selected for the competition to receive the prestigious Oscar.

The short  animated film Dcera (Daughter) was shortlisted for the Oscar with another Czech film, The Painted Bird directed by Václav Marhoul, which competes in the Best International Feature Film category.

Daughter has already won a Student Oscar, which the Academy of Motion Picture  Arts and Sciences presented Daria Kashcheeva with in October 2019.
